Curly Hair and Curly Hair Products

The term curly hair can mean different things to different people. To avoid confusion, it is best to be as specific as possible when trying to describe a particular hair type.

What some people call curly are strands that have a loopy or “S” shape. These follicles do not lie flat on the head, except maybe when they are wet. Fresh out of the shower and soaked with water this type may appear straight. Humidity usually leads to more curls.

A positive aspect of this type of hair is that in many ways it is more maintenance friendly. Getting that perfect look isn’t as difficult and takes less effort. It can be easily styled in its natural form after washing, and if you’re into a different look a blow dryer can help smooth out the curls for a straighter pattern. Gels and styling creams work well on creating specific styles with this type mane.

Even within this “S” shape pattern, there are several variations. The curls can be loose and loopy, kinky or tightly rolled and packed tightly together.

Kinky hair is very tightly curled, and while it appears to be course, it is actually fine, with strands in close proximity to one another. This dense grouping has a silky and soft feel. In its natural state this variety forms a bush, a fashion that reached its peak in the 60s and 70s. Many women use relaxers or hot combs to straighten out some of the curls and make the hair easier to manage. In its natural state (without the relaxer), this kind of tresses puffs when wet and in humid conditions.

This is one of the most fragile textures of hair, subject to breaking easily. WEN Fig Cleansing Conditioner is one of the curly hair products designed to prevent such damage and increase manageability. The WEN line also offers other products (conditioner and creams) in this vein.

Dry Hair and Hair Styling Products

Dry hair is a wide spread occurrence. Take a look at the hair care section of your local pharmacy or discount store and you will see item after item designed to moisturize and eliminate drying.

The irony of it is that is often caused by styling products and styling methods. The things we do to our tresses to make them look better often cause damage. Blow dryers, curling irons and hot rollers can all cause damage. Certain mousses and gels that are used to style also contain substances that eliminate natural moisture.

With the increased use of coloring agents has come an increase in the stress put on the follicles. Chemical damage from color, bleach and perms can be extreme, especially over time. Sun, heat and chemicals in the air can rob the hair of moisture and then some people have naturally this condition.

Regardless of the cause, what happens is that lipids, which attract moisture, are lost from the head and until they are replaced the arid condition will reign. Thus, the question is how to replace these wetness attractors.

Fortunately there are some products out there to help:
There are shampoos that claim to work for normal to extremely dry hair. Hydrating conditioners are also available and claim to rehydrate and repair brittle follicles. There are crèmes that work in much the same way as the conditioners.

Hair masks are also gaining appeal in this area. Some are applied for a short time after shampooing and then rinsed out. Wen hair care products boast a line of Re-Moist Hydrating Masks that are recommended to be left in from 30 to 45 minutes to rejuvenate and relieve the parched areas.

Hair styling products have become an essential part of many hair care routines and the substances have benefits. However, it’s good to know what long-term use of these items will mean and choose products that accommodate your individual needs; I highly recommend Wen hair products such as Wen Styling Crème, Moist Intensive Hair Repair Mask and Texture Balm to repair damaged or fried hair. My hair is shinier, healthier and more manageable since I started using these hair care lines.

This is one of the reasons for blogging about this since I backing up what I’m saying here with my own experience and I truly love the Wen hair care lines.

Best Shampoos – Add WEN Cleanser Conditioner to the List

How is that search for the world’s best shampoos coming along? WEN Cleanser Conditioner should be at the top of your list. This two-in-one non-lathering product has a loyal and growing following.

“I absolutely love Wen. My hair is better than it has ever been, clean and healthy. I’ve only just started using it, several weeks, and I can see the improvement. Here’s a little hint for anyone who is going to use the products. Read the label.”

cleansing conditioners

There are multiple cleanser conditioners, each promoted as a universal product, yet each is more helpful for specific hair types, from straight to curly and from dry to oily.

“My kids and use it all the time and we love it, one mother said. This is really a good shampoo. If anyone needs me to do a commercial for Wen, I’m ready to go.”

If those two testimonials are not sufficient to convince you, here is one more that might do the trick.

Let’s be honest, no matter what you say about inner beauty and all that, if your hair doesn’t look good you’re not going to look good. A woman feels better about herself when her hair is full and bouncy or however she likes it and Wen helps me get my hair to the point that I am pleased with the way it looks.

“Some women have said that when they did not use enough of the cleanser conditioner their hair felt heavy, weighed down. You may feel that you do not need as much of the creamy solution as the label suggests but for the best results follow the instructions exactly.”

Some users who were not satisfied initially found that once they got the correct amount with each washing, there was a noticeable difference. Most of them said that there scalp felt clean and their hair was rehydrated.
